We all know it’s vital to recycle, but sometimes it’s tricky to find the time and the right place to do it.  That’s where we come in.  Hickies will be happy to recycle your musical instrument when you purchase a new one. 

What are the UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations?

The UK WEEE Regulations are laws that place an environmental responsibility on the producers of electrical and electronic equipment.

These regulations encourage separate collection and environmentally sound recycling, including re-use of electrical and electronic equipment, which includes musical instrumentsmobile and accessories.

How does this affect me as a customer?

As the user of a musical instrument you have an important part to play in the recycling process.  Without your help and support, we wouldn’t be able to collect your unwanted instrument and recycle it.

On all new electrical and electronic equipment, which includes Instruments, the following crossed out wheelie bin symbol will be displayed to remind you not to throw the product into your bin at home.


Why should I recycle my unwanted Instrument?

Recycling musical instruments can help to reduce the pressure on the Earth’s finite resources, and prevents instruments from simply going to landfill.

Like most electronic goods, musical instruments contain some materials escape and be harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly.

How do I recycle my unwanted Instrument?

It’s simple, just hand over your old Instrument in store when you purchase an instrument, and we will send it for environmentally sound recycle.

Is there a cost to recycling my unwanted Instrument?

No. it’s completely free of charge.

What happens to my unwanted Instrument?

Your unwanted musical instrument will be recycled.

Your instrument will be carefully assessed to determine whether it will be re-used or processed for recycling of materials.
