BOSS has reintroduced this iconic pedal in a special Waza Craft edition, the HM-2W. The new iteration carries the authentic analog sound of its predecessor, paired with a multitude of modern enhancements for improved performance.
A Resurrected Icon in Metal Music
Originally introduced in 1983, the HM-2 was a pioneer in its genre as one of the first “amp in a box” pedals. Its innovative circuitry was designed to emulate the sound of the early ’80s British stack amps, widely used in the burgeoning heavy metal scene. Later on, Swedish death metal bands adopted the HM-2, and its uniquely aggressive sound and focused midrange have been much desired by a new generation of musicians. After a relentless demand for its return, BOSS is excited to introduce the HM-2W to all its loyal fans across the globe.
Standard Mode: Echoing the Classic HM-2 Sound
In Standard mode, the HM-2W faithfully replicates the tone and response of the original HM-2 pedal. Modern enhancements have been incorporated, such as a reduction in noise and a 3dB increase in the maximum level, without altering the characteristic sound. The premium Waza Craft buffer ensures the tone remains clean and clear even when the pedal is bypassed.
Custom Mode: Embrace the Aggression
The HM-2W’s Custom mode adds a touch more bite to the sound, with increased gain at the drive stage and more of the fundamental guitar tone for sharper attack. Additionally, tweaks to the low and high-mid characteristics yield an increased richness and clarity.
The Iconic Orange and Black Design
Attention has been paid to not just the sound, but also the HM-2’s signature orange and black design. The size and positioning of the panel lettering have been preserved, and the mode switch has been moved to the top to keep the original control layout intact.
