Description
Jackson’s JS Series Dinky JS12 is an affordable route into the sharp looks and quick handling that define the brand’s super-strat legacy. The body is lightweight poplar carved to Jackson’s slightly downsized Dinky outline, so it hangs comfortably for long rehearsals and invites wide elbow sweeps without feeling bulky. A flat gloss finish keeps fingerprints at bay while black hardware, dome knobs and a pointed six-inline headstock seal the stealth aesthetic. Four colours—Gloss Black, Metallic Blue, Metallic Red and Snow White—offer everything from stage-ready flash to understated cool.
Playability centres on a maple Speed Neck bolted to the body with a scarf joint and graphite reinforcement rods that fight seasonal movement. Its deep satin surface stays slick under perspiring palms, and the profile measures just nineteen millimetres at the first fret then only two millimetres more at the twelfth, so octave stretches land without strain. An amaranth fingerboard stretches to twenty-four jumbo frets and carries a flat twelve-inch radius that makes barre chords easy yet still lets the strings bend high without choking. White pearloid dots mark the way while a dual-action truss rod keeps relief adjustments simple.
Electronics are stripped back for fast stage control. Two Jackson high output ceramic humbuckers sit where you need them, voiced for tight bass, clear mids and enough bite to push a driven amp. A three-way blade selects bridge, neck or both, while single master volume and tone knobs leave nothing to snag a ferocious down-stroke. Spin the tone back and the pickups mellow for clean passages; open it wide and they snarl with classic Jackson aggression.
A two point fulcrum tremolo bridge brings expressive dips and surges without the upkeep of a locking system. Saddles adjust independently for exact intonation and the through-body mounting screws transfer vibration into the poplar core, adding sustain beyond what many entry guitars manage. Sealed Jackson tuners hold pitch against tremolo use and wide bends, and a black plastic nut keeps the budget realistic while staying stable in standard or drop tuning. Straight from the box the JS12 arrives strung with nine to forty-two gauges and set to a low fast action that begs for shredding.
