Jamie has taught piano and music theory to both children and adults for over 6 years, following his formal training at the University of Hull under renowned international pianist and Moscow Conservatoire graduate Irina Glushenkova. In addition to performing as a soloist, Jamie has also rehearsed and led numerous Orchestral and Choral performances as a conductor, and has significant experience in participating in a wide variety of professional concerts.
Jamie’s enthusiasm for the study of music led to the successful completion of a Masters degree in the subject in 2009 (University of Hull), and this deeper understanding of music theory and analysis has fostered an approach to teaching which encourages the development of an all-round musician. In September 2009, Jamie was appointed Assistant Director of Music at Eagle House School in Sandhurst, where he was able to obtain significant experience in one-to-one tuition, music theory/aural workshop delivery and classroom teaching. Jamie was also heavily involved in the rehearsal, preparation and accompaniment of ABRSM grade exam candidates across a variety of instrumental disciplines during this time, and successfully helped coach a number of pupils to being awarded full music scholarships at the school’s senior affiliate, Wellington College.
Jamie worked as the school’s chapel organist, rehearsing relevant choirs and accompanying services twice a week – an experience which he thoroughly enjoyed and maintains through continuing to work as an organist for private church functions. Alongside private teaching, Jamie has worked full time in numerous administrative roles across London and the South East in a variety of music education charities and, most recently, in Higher Education at a specialist music provider in Guildford.
