Ibanez RGA742FM-TGF: A Game-Changer for 7-String Fans

If you’re on the hunt for a sleek, high-performance 7-string guitar that ticks all the boxes without breaking the bank, the Ibanez RGA742FM-TGF might just be your next favourite axe. Let’s talk about why this guitar deserves a spot in your rig.

Design That Screams Style

First impressions? The Transparent Gray Flat (TGF) finish paired with a flamed maple top is an absolute stunner. This guitar doesn’t just look pro; it feels premium, too. The contouring of the RGA742FM’s body makes it super comfortable whether you’re riffing hard on stage or practising for hours at home.

Built for Speed and Comfort

The Wizard II 3pc Maple neck is classic Ibanez. Thin, fast, and designed to handle the most intricate runs and shreddy solos with ease. It’s a dream for guitarists who demand precision and speed, and the 400mmR radius ensures smooth playability up and down the fretboard.

Speaking of the fretboard, the Jatoba wood not only looks gorgeous with its reddish hue but also delivers a tone that’s balanced, with a pronounced midrange and sparkling highs.

Quantum Pickups for Maximum Versatility

When it comes to pickups, Ibanez didn’t hold back. The Quantum 7 pickups (both bridge and neck) are designed to handle everything you throw at them. Whether you’re after crushing riffs, articulate cleans, or tight high-gain leads, these pickups deliver. The bass response is quick and responsive, perfect for tight, staccato riffs, while the high end cuts through the mix beautifully.

Solid Hardware = Rock-Solid Performance

The F107 bridge is simple, effective, and reliable. String spacing at 10.5mm ensures optimal comfort for picking and strumming. Plus, the black hardware perfectly complements the sleek aesthetic of the guitar.

Key Specs at a Glance:

  • Scale Length: 25.5”
  • Frets: 24 Jumbo
  • Factory Tuning: 1E, 2B, 3G, 4D, 5A, 6E, 7B

At Hickies Music Store, we’re passionate about making music accessible to everyone. We understand that buying a musical instrument can be a significant expense, which is why we’re delighted to offer the Take It Away scheme—a simple and affordable way to help you bring music into your life.

What Is the Take It Away Scheme?

The Take It Away scheme is an initiative funded by Arts Council England and operated by Creative United, a not-for-profit organisation. It provides interest-free loans to individuals looking to purchase musical instruments, equipment, or even tuition. This means you can spread the cost over time without paying any extra.

How Does It Work?

Here’s how you can take advantage of the scheme at Hickies:

  1. Visit Our Store – Drop by our shop in Reading and have a browse. Whether you’re interested in guitars, pianos, brass instruments, or something else entirely, we’ve got a wide selection for you to choose from. Our friendly staff are always on hand to offer advice and answer any questions.
  2. Choose Your Instrument – Take your time trying out different instruments to find the one that’s right for you. We’re here to help, whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced musician.

A quick credit check will be carried out, and you’ll need to pay a minimum deposit of 10% of the instrument’s price.
  4. Take Your Instrument Home – If your application is approved and the deposit is paid, you can take your new instrument home straight away. Your first monthly payment will usually be due about 30 days after your purchase.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the Take It Away scheme, you need to:

  • Be over 18 years old.
  • Be a UK resident with at least three years of address history.
  • Have a gross annual income of at least £5,000.
  • Hold a bank or building society account capable of handling direct debit payments.

The scheme is open to a wide range of people, including students with part-time jobs, those who are self-employed, and individuals who are unemployed but meet the income requirement. You can also use the scheme to purchase an instrument for someone else, such as a child or family member.

Why Use the Take It Away Scheme?
