Description
Rediscover the world’s first chorus sounds reborn with the unparalleled craftsmanship of the Waza Craft CE-2W, a special edition BOSS pedal that offers the ultimate tone experience. Four decades after the launch of the pioneering CE-1 Chorus Ensemble, the innovative and signature BOSS effect continues to captivate musicians around the globe, earning it a place in the compact lineup. This exclusive made-in-Japan model is a tribute to the 40th anniversary of BOSS innovation, faithfully recreating and enhancing the original analog chorus sounds.
The Waza Craft CE-2W doesn’t simply imitate the iconic tones of the past—it evolves them. Its Standard mode accurately mirrors the timeless CE-2 chorus sound while integrating an expansive new stereo output that was absent in the mono CE-2. Further, the CE-1 mode reproduces the stereo chorus and vibrato sounds of the legendary CE-1, but with the added capability of varying chorus depth, a feature not found in the original pedal.
Bearing the Waza Craft seal—a symbol of superior tone and artistry—the CE-2W offers fine-tuned sound adjustments in both modes thanks to its rate and depth knobs. This special edition pedal employs premium all-analog circuitry with a bucket-brigade (BBD) delay line, offering a unique blend of old-school analog technology with the precision of refined modern circuitry.
The story of the CE-2W began in 1976 when the CE-1 Chorus Ensemble debuted, setting a new standard for guitar effects. Initially introduced as the “Dimensional Space Chorus” effect in Roland’s JC-120 Jazz Chorus amplifier, the CE-1 was the first to make the lush, spacious chorus and unique vibrato sounds available with any amplifier setup. The CE-2W pays homage to this legacy by providing an authentic reproduction of the CE-1’s analog sounds, enhanced with variable depth control.
As the years passed, guitarists started craving for the CE-1 chorus sound in a smaller, battery-powered format. This demand was met in 1979 with the introduction of the CE-2 Chorus, specifically designed to provide a subtler modulation compared to the CE-1, yet ensuring the guitar sound remained sharp and well-defined. The CE-2W not only delivers an authentic reproduction of the original CE-2’s mono-only sound, but also pioneers by offering the classic pedal’s modulated tone in stereo for the first time.
Proudly made in Japan like its CE-1 and CE-2 ancestors, the CE-2W is a testament to BOSS’s unwavering dedication to innovation and quality. More than just a pedal, it’s a celebration of a rich heritage that has seen over 15 million BOSS compact pedals sold since the debut of the OD-1 Overdrive in 1977. With the Waza Craft CE-2W, musicians can relish the spirit of generations of technical and musical wisdom that continues to inspire the finest guitar tones today.
Despite its compact size, the CE-2W doesn’t compromise on performance. With three modes—Standard, CE-1 Chorus, and CE-1 Vibrato—it provides an extensive range of tonal possibilities. It’s designed to work seamlessly with your setup, with a nominal input level of -20 dBu, an input impedance of 1 M ohm, and a nominal output level of -20 dBu. The output impedance is 1 k ohm and it’s recommended for use with a load impedance of 10 k ohms or greater.
The CE-2W operates on either an alkaline battery (9V, 6LR61) or a carbon-zinc battery (9V, 6F22), and can also be powered by an AC adaptor (sold separately). With an expected battery life of approximately 32 hours for alkaline and about 18 hours for carbon under continuous use, you can play for long periods without interruption.
In the box, you’ll find a leaflet with safety information and a 9V alkaline battery. There’s also the option to purchase a PSA series AC adaptor separately. This pedal, with a width of 73 mm, a depth of 129 mm, and a height of 59 mm, weighs just 450 grams, including the battery, making it a portable addition to your gear.
Experience the classic yet evolved chorus sounds with the BOSS Waza Craft CE-2W—where the spirit of innovation meets the art of superior tone.
